The Achilles Tendon

The Achilles tendon is an extension of the calf muscles (gastrocnemius, soleus, and plantaris). It is the thickest and strongest tendon in the human body, measuring approximately 15 centimeters.

This tendon is named in honor of Achilles, a character from Greek mythology who was invulnerable to everything except for this part of the body.

High-heeled shoes discomfort this tendon, causing inflammation because it does not function as it should due to the position of the foot for several hours.

It is recommended to be very cautious, as this tendon has caused many athletes to retire throughout history due to the difficulty of recovery.
