What is the PIPA and SOPA Law

PIPA, or the Protect IP Act, is a law that allows companies with registered patents to block users from accessing specific pages where patents or licenses are being used without authorization.

For example, if a user searches for the phrase "Download Office 2014," Microsoft may appear in the results, but also another page offering an illegal download without copyright. The company has the right to remove or block this link from the search results without prior notice.

This law involves monitoring every activity we perform on the internet, which is why it has faced widespread rejection, as it clearly violates freedom of speech.

SOPA, or the Stop Online Piracy Act, was a U.S. law aimed at combating piracy and the theft of copyrighted material. In 2012, President Barack Obama announced that he would not support the law, effectively ending the initiative.
