The World Record is the record set on a global level, which can be achieved in any country and at any time, during any competition. It can also be set within the Olympics, and can be broken both inside and outside of the Olympics.
Facts
- When a world record is broken during the Olympics, the Olympic record is also broken. If it is broken outside of the Olympics, only the World Record is broken.
- When an Olympic Record is broken, it may not break the World Record because the latter is better.
- The World Record will always be equal to or greater than the Olympic Record.
- The Olympic Record will always be equal to or less than the World Record.
