Base Distance:
- In baseball, it's 90 feet.
- In softball, it's 60 feet.
Innings:
- In baseball, there are 9 innings.
- In softball, there are 7 innings.
Center Field Dimensions:
- In baseball, it's 400 feet.
- In softball, it's 220 feet.
Other Differences:
- In baseball, the runner can leave the base whenever they want and doesn't have to maintain contact with the base. In softball, they must maintain contact with the base. The runner can only run and steal the base after the pitcher has released the ball.
- In softball, players who have been substituted can return to the field as long as they were the original starters, while substitutes can't re-enter the game once replaced. In baseball, players who leave the game cannot return to that same game.
- In baseball, the pitch is thrown from a mound, and the pitcher can throw to the bases if there are runners. In softball, the pitch is always underhanded below the waist. The pitcher throws the ball close to the ground and only from the pitcher's plate.
